The Fashion World Of Jean Paul Gaultier: From The Sidewalk To The Catwalk Is Now In San Francisco!

The much anticipated “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” will begin on Saturday, March 24th thru August 19th at the deYoung Museum as the famous designer will be attending at the sold-out premiere event! Such a sight to even be in the presence of such a renowned fashion designer of our time walking the streets of San Francisco. I’m definitely making a trip to the museum to see his collection!

The Bay Lights

I hope to see this San Francisco Bay Bridge illuminate in the night sky while taking a stroll by the pier next year. Artist Leo Villareal proposed this project The Bay Lights to create a light sculpture & illuminate it over the course of the Bay Bridge’s 75th Anniversary. The ongoing fundraiser for this installation pays for 25,000 bulbs & will be kept for two years for all to see the iconic structure. The video below provides an artist rendering of The Bay Lights. I’m so excited for this & I can’t wait to see!

I actually found out about this from my boyfriend, after telling me he wanted to go to all the POPOS. I was dumbfounded of course, so I did my research, & was excited to write about it here because this is one of those hidden easter egg that not even the locals know about. POPOS stands for Privately Owned Public Open Spaces, and are located around the Downtown San Francisco area. There are about 68 secret spaces that offer alluring vistas of SF, & intimate indoor or outdoor settings. Maps are available to all 68 secret spaces with a helpful guide to get you there, such as where to go to avoid security guards, find unmarked doors, & hours of operation. I can’t wait to find some of these hidden spots with my boyfriend!

News about Uniqlo heading to San Francisco has actually been around since last year, but continues to make the headline. Uniqlo, or what some call the “Japanese Gap”, is in full expansion mode. A sportswear line designed by Nicola Formichetti (Mugler designer & Lady Gaga’s stylist) will accompany Uniqlo, hitting the boutiques, and open three huge stores in October (two in Manhattan, one in London). The company’s planned openings besides the one in San Francisco, include flagships in Chicago & Los Angeles, and smaller shops in New York, New Jersey, & Connecticut, plus hundreds of stores internationally. No date yet when Uniqlo will open in San Francisco, so stay tune folks!
