Currently Preoccupied: Bally Total Fitness, Milk Tea With Boba, & Mysterious Girlfriend X

I’m starting a segment for my blog by listing things that have become my new favorites for the week, which I called being ‘currently preoccupied.’ This segment is a way for me to add personality to my blog.

Bally Total Fitness: My boyfriend (aka “O”) recently signed me up to join the gym. I’ll admit, I hated going to the gym at first, but when I had O go & train me so I can get familiar with the equipment & what workout to do each day. Since then, I’m more motivated now & I actually enjoy going to the gym, which also affects my way of life I guess (cutting back on junk foods, having more energy & stamina, etc).

Milk tea with boba (or tapioca): I don’t drink coffee, but I do enjoy me some hot milk tea with boba. What got me even more excited about milk tea was that there are places that has “self-served” boba & jellies of your choice! Now I’m up for trying other drinks with different jellies this time.

Mysterious Girlfriend X (or Nazo no Kanojo X): This new anime was released last month & now I can’t get enough of it! Let’s just say this anime made drooling sexy & addicting… Who knew saliva can determine the person that loves you most? Here’s the plot of the anime from Anime Ultima:

“One day, a strange transfer student appears before Tsubaki. Urabe Mikoto is an antisocial girl, whose hobby is just sleeping during class-breaks. One day, Tsubaki goes to wake her up and accidentally tastes her drool… And gets hooked on that! After that, he starts going out with her and gets to know her better. Her second hobby, as it turns out, is carrying around scissors in her panties and cutting paper into flowers…”

Hospitals Scare Me

This was just last week, but it still freaks me out thinking about it. O had to be admitted to the hospital because his doctor found out he was anemic & was afraid he might have colon cancer. With a thorough treatment & biopsy, the doctor found he’s negative on having any cancerous tumors. However, he does have ulcers in his stomach that he has to take medications for. I’m just glad his doing well now & is being the same silly boyfriend of mine that he’s always been 🙂

All That Glitters Friday: How To Add More Sparkle In Your Life

I’m constantly finding ways to keep me inspired and active for 2012 by finding the beauty & joys in even the simple things in my life. This urge to find beauty & knowledge helps put my life in perspective in which I am striving for improvement, & a way to start off is by adding a hint of sparkle to brighten my life. Never take life for granted. The list below are from the Glitter Guide site to give some ideas to find sparkle in your life.

Don’t save your favorite jewels for ‘a special occasion.’ Life is the special occasion! Treat every day like a party, and wear a tangle of your favorite necklaces, a cluster of your grandmother’s brooches, or your treasured rings each day.

Be kind to your body. Get enough sleep and sunshine, eat well, drink gallons of water, and move about. You’ll not only be overflowing with energy, but you’ll also look gorgeous and radiant.

Practise random acts of kindness. Tell a stranger in the street how great they look, leave a little note with a tip at your local cafe about how much you adore the cake, volunteer for a worthy local cause. It doesn’t really matter what it is, but doing lovely, selfless things often will make you smile on the inside.

Always buy yourself a bunch of flowers. They needn’t be expensive! (In spring, I love nothing more than $2 bunches of daffodils and white narcissi on my windowsill.) The loveliness that they add to your home will belie their cost.

If you’re in a wardrobe rut, make an effort to do your hair and put on your cutest heels for no particular reason at all. You’ll spend the day feeling that little bit lovelier.

Don’t let grey skies get you down! Treat them as an excuse to wear a poppy pink lipstick, an adorable umbrella, and perhaps a shot of pastel or fuschia in your outfit (the same optimistic rules apply to bad days).

Tweak your everyday routines to make the rituals extra special. Can’t function without your morning tea or coffee? Have it in your prettiest china! You’ll feel as though you’re having a tea party every single morning!

One day every week (without fail), go on a date with someone you love. It doesn’t need to be grand or over-the-top. Why not go somewhere fabulous for a cocktail with your best friend on payday each month? Or get dressed up to see a musical you’ve been wanting to see for ages all by yourself? Or take a bike ride at sunset with your loved one? Whatever it is, make time for special moments with the people you love.

Add some sparkle to your home (literally!). I’m all about these glittery letters (via Twisted Twig on Etsy) to put on a bookshelf or against a wall. Or, brush up on your DIY skills and make a garland of glittery bunting to string across your wall. You’ll smile every time you look at it!

If you’re feeling uninspired, broaden your horizons. Make plans to take a trip to a city you’ve always wanted to explore, visit a new museum in your area, or go to your favourite bookstore for something wonderful to read this week. Instant inspiration!

Instead Of Setting Goals, Change Your Daily Habits

For the new year, I want to make it the best year for myself as possible. I’ll admit, 2011 was not favorite year, & just glad to give myself a new start in life. You know, something to get me motivated to get through the craziness of daily life. I found this article from the Zenhabits website on how it’s best to change your daily habits, rather than setting goals for yourself. I recommend you guys read this article for some positive reinforcement. I think I’ll start making positive changes in myself by changing the four daily habits listed below, (the habits the author used are actually the same four daily habits I’ve been wanting to change in myself for sometime now, or maybe it’s just a coincidence). Here’s an excerpt below from the article of what daily habits to changes to start practicing on. Consistency is key…

“Instead of Goals

There is an alternative to setting goals that will bring you closer to the life you want. Focus on a few practices you can enjoy doing on a regular basis. The trick here is consistency. These four helped me:

  • Get up early. When the world wakes up, distractions abound. If you are going to focus on creating a new life for yourself, you’ll need to find the time. The best way to do this is to work while others are sleeping. At first, I didn’t like waking up before the sun, but eventually my body adjusted and I began looking forward to the solitude.
  • Over-commit. The adage “under-promise and over-deliver” is a farce. It only propagates the status quo. Real difference-makers push boundaries. They test, prod, and poke until something gives. You can do this, too, by saying “yes” to more things than you’re comfortable with. Learn to stretch yourself. You might be surprised by what you’re actually capable of. Your confidence will grow, too.
  • Talk to strangers. Relationships are what make the world go round. This is true for your career, personal well-being, and inner life. When you meet new people, you make connections that can lead to all kinds of future breakthroughs. Even when it’s uncomfortable, reach out and introduce yourself to new people. The worst they can say is “no.” Fortunately, many won’t.
  • Practice generosity. Give away your time, money, services, and ideas. When you do this, you will get a lot more than you give. People will learn to trust you, and if you really help them, they will tell others about you. This will build your reputation, and you will have more friends than you know what to do with. And as the saying goes, what goes around really does come around.

After a year of doing these things, I ended up with a life I couldn’t have imagined or planned for. And I had a blast doing it. So I’m going to do it all over again, without setting a single goal.

The best year of your life is within reach — if you are willing to give up on the craziness of plans and instead focus on creating new habits. The first step is to begin.
